Guptas planning wedding extravaganzas worth R430mn: report

The Gupta family is planning two showy weddings next week. An Indian newspaper reports the week-long festivities will cost nearly R427-million.

JOHANNESBURG - Indian newspapers are reporting the Guptas are planning yet more lavish weddings.

This follows the controversial wedding of Vega Gupta and Aakash Jahajgarhia in 2013 at Sun City.

A private jet landed at the government's Waterkloof Air Force Base on 30 April 2013 with more than 200 passengers on board.

This time, two ceremonies will take place at a luxury ski resort in the Himalayas.

According to reports, Ajay and Atul Gupta's sons are set to wed next week.

India's Economic Times estimates the festivities will cost almost R430-million.

Hundreds of helicopters have apparently been hired to ferry guests.

Reports also suggest flowers are being imported from Switzerland.
