Half-a-million spent on braai areas for ministerial houses: Scopa

JOHANNESBURG – Parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) is questioning large amounts of money spent by the Department of Public Works on ministerial housing.

This follows reports that the Department of Public Works spent about R500,000 refurbishing braai areas at houses allocated to ministers. 

Public Works came under fire on Tuesday Parliament.​​​​​​​

Committee chairperson, Themba Godi, said cabinet members should not abuse their privileges.

Scopa has requested the Department of Public Works to reappear before the committee on August 29.
