Hawks make arrests over 2014 Free State asbestos project

JOHANNESBURG - The Hawks have made arrests on Wednesday morning in KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and the Western Cape, in connection with the 2014 asbestos project in the Free State.

Four arrests have been made in the Free State and three more suspects are expected to be brought into custody on Wednesday, according to Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi.

Four of the suspects are senior government officials and three are private business people, according to the spokesperson.

This week we've heard testimony at the state capture inquiry on how tenders were inflated.
