Health Minister concerned by rising cases in Eastern, Western Cape

JOHANNESBURG - Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said COVID-19 outbreaks in the Eastern and Western Cape are concerning.

The minister said intervention is needed.

"It is important to adhere to non-pharmaceutical interventions. We need sustained behavioural change," the minister said on Twitter.

Mkhize said clusters of infections don't necessarily indicate another resurgence of the virus but urged South Africans to continue wearing masks, adhere to strict personal hygiene, and avoid superspreader events.

He will be heading to the Eastern Cape to assess the situation there.
