JOHANNESBURG - Former Western Cape and DA leader Helen Zille was elected as the party's new federal chairperson on Sunday.

DA national spokesperson Solly Malatsi confirmed the news on Twitter.

De Lille: 'I warned Maimane'

Zille, Athol Trollip, Mike Waters and Thomas Walters battled it out for the position.

The party will also be discussing the organisation review panel report which recommends that DA leader Mmusi Maimane should vacate his position.

Maimane has said the report must be mulled over.
