JOHANNESBURG - In a bizarre quest for control, five people died at a church in Zuurbekom, west of Johannesburg.
On Saturday morning, church members and a splinter group reportedly clashed over leadership of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church.
More than 200 congregants were held hostage and later rescued by police.
Over 40 people, including a police officer, soldier and a metro police officer, have been arrested.
The church has more than 3 million congregants in Southern Africa.
