PRETORIA - Independent Electoral Commission chairperson Glen Mashinini has refused to comment, on the impending strike by electoral staff.

Mashinini says the chief electoral officer is dealing with the matter.

“On our side as the commission overall, we do not have outstanding issues on salary,” Mashinini said.

With millions of South Africans heading to the polls on Wednesday, Mashinini said the law prohibits certain conduct.

The IEC says it is important that all political parties and observers are present at voting stations.

Mashinini said this is vital to ensuring the integrity of South Africa's voting system.
