JOHANNESBURG - The matric class of 2019 has achieved an 81.3 percent pass rate.
This is an improvement from the previous year's 78.2 percent.

In the Class of 2019, there were 616,754 full-time learners, 170,963 part-time learners and more than 2,576 learners with special needs.
The matriculants produced 156,884 distinctions.
The Free State took the lead for the second year in a row with 88.4 percent followed by Gauteng with 87.2 percent.
