JOHANNESBURG - Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) head, Robert McBride, says it's clear police have and continue to cover up incidents regarding Marikana.

McBride says, however, that the directorate has done all it can.
The watchdog has investigated 77 police officers so far and to date, no one has been prosecuted.
“On all the incidents, we didn’t have the level of cooperation as we should have. In fact, in some instances there was clearly attempts to cover up”, McBride said.
