JMPD taking necessary precautions to protect officers: Minnaar

JOHANNESBURG - The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department says its business as usual and that it's taking all the necessary safety precautions.

This after four of its officers tested positive for COVID-19.

Over a hundred officers have been tested so far since the first confirmed case.

“JMPD has implemented measures to ensure that officers have access to personal protective equipment so that officers can be safe and we want to encourage officers to be vigilant at all times,” said JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar.

Minnaar has assured residents that officers will continue to serve and protect.

“Our officers are using the protective personal equipment so that they can be safe, not only for themselves but also towards the public we serve."
