Knysna officials say they have nothing to hide after PP report

KNYSNA - Municipal officials in Knysna say they have nothing to hide and are willing to cooperate with any investigations into alleged improper conduct and maladministration.

Their comments come after a damning report by the Public Protector, accusing the municipality of unlawfully procuring the services of a tourism company.

The Public Protector has recommended that the speaker of the Knysna Local Municipality take the necessary steps to ensure that criminal charges are laid against officials found responsible for wrongdoing.

But activists in the Garden Route town say the latest findings come as no surprise.

The Knysna Local Municipality says it did nothing wrong in the procurement of tourism services.

The municipality is in recess with remedial action expected to take place after the election.
