DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal is making inroads in the fight against COVID-19.

Not only are infections and hospital admissions in the province declining, but it's also vaccinated nearly 1,300 health workers.

But the province is not out of the woods just yet.

"The province continues to rank as the second-highest in terms of confirmed cases," said premier Sihle Zikalala.

"We continue to observe a decline in the number of new cases between week five and week six, which is a decline of 45 percent."

Despite the decline in the number of daily infections, the public has been urged not to become complacent, especially with the risk of a third wave.
