JOHANNESBURG - KwaZulu-Natal has unearthed irregularities - totalling over R13-million - in the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Premier Sihle Zikalala says in some instances service providers were paid in full before the delivery of services.
"In terms of the findings, the investigation has highlighted significant irregularities which were caused by inadequate and inefficient systems of internal control with the provincial department of social development," said Zikalala.
Zikalala says there's been an abuse of the COVID-19 emergency procurement provision and disciplinary action will be taken against all those responsible.
