KZN reeling after two matric girls killed

The KZN government is providing support to the families of the matric girls hacked to death in Creighton. The pupils were brutally murdered over the weekend. It's alleged that the suspect in his 20s entered the rented house where the girls were living and mutilated them. #dstv403

DURBAN - Investigations are underway into the murder of two Grade 12 pupils in Creighton in KwaZulu-Natal.

The young women were hacked to death over the weekend.

It's alleged the suspect entered the house where the girls were renting and murdered them.

The KZN government says it's providing support to the girls' families.

"We are very much disturbed by the sad news of the gruesome killing of the two girls, in fact they were just minors, they happened to be killed by a known person in the community," said Nonhlanhla Khoza, KZN Social Development MEC.

"This area is a deep rural area, you wouldn’t expect such a thing to happen here.

We are disturbed by the news but we have dispatched our social workers to come and assist the family and they have identified some gaps within the family and we can see the family is destitute so we have provided psychosocial support and we will extend it to the school as well.”
