DURBAN - Land invasions are occurring more frequently in the eThekwini municipality. 

Some of the settlers say they have no money and nowhere else to go.

This puts them at loggerheads with authorities who say land invasions are costing millions and hampering development in the city. 

The eThekwini Municipality says it has built the poor over 300,000 houses and ablution facilities to date.

It says it also brought electricity to over 500 informal settlements to assist those in need.
