JOHANNESBURG - The chairperson of the ad hoc committee dealing with land expropriation without compensation says its work must be completed this year.

The committee has asked for a 30-day extension to finalise outstanding matters.

EFF and ANC MPs are at loggerheads over the form of the proposed amendment.

The parties must agree on the new wording of the Constitution regarding land expropriation.

Professor Ruth Hall from the University of Western Cape says the proposed amendment will not make it through Parliament if they don't.
