JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Basic Education in the province says late school admissions is still a big issue.
It's encouraging parents to cooperate and support the process by planning ahead.
Thousands of Gauteng pupils remain without schools, despite the new academic year kicking off.
Officials say the placement programme is expected to be completed by the end of January.
Steve Mabona, the Gauteng Education department spokesperson, said, "remember last we were sitting on over 24,000, by mid-February we had to finalize the process of placing them."
The department is asking for parents to cooperate with them to plan ahead.
