PIETERMARITZBURG - At least 16 people were killed in a horror crash on the N3 south in Pietermaritzburg early on Saturday morning.
A fully-loaded taxi burst into flames in a multi-vehicle collision with another taxi, two trucks, a bakkie and five cars.
When emergency services arrived, the fire spread to other vehicles.
There was also a secondary crash on the northbound carriageway.

KwaZulu-Natal traffic authorities are on the scene.
The road is open, but officials are asking for patience due to slow traffic.
