JOHANNESBURG – At least 30 undocumented immigrants were arrested during a joint operation by the Johannesburg Metro Police Department and the South African Police Service on Monday in the Johannesburg CBD.

Officials also raided formal and informal traders impounding counterfeit goods worth R3-million.

Last week, an angry mob overpowered police during a similar operation.

Officers checked traders' permits, confiscating counterfeit goods and verifying migrant documentation.
