Lesotho reassures SA on water situation

Routine maintenance has led to a halt in water supply to Gauteng for two months.

JOHANNESBURG - Lesotho Highlands Water Project officials are telling South Africans to grit their teeth just a little longer.

Routine maintenance has led to a halt in water supply to Gauteng for two months.

But officials say they are on track to have it back up and running at the beginning of next month

Lesotho is also in the midst of a drought, with dam levels lower than usual.

The rainy season is coming in a little later than usual here, but it will hopefully start raising dam levels and stabilise water supply.
