JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi has rubbished claims that the reintroduction of Afrikaans in township schools is a race-based decision.

Lesufi was updating parents on the latest developments on the 2020 Admissions Placement process on Sunday.

"It is important to correct the distortion that we are introducing Afrikaans or English in township schools so we can take certain races and place them in township schools. That is a clear distortion."
