Manuel also recalled a crucial national executive committee meeting that had taken place a year after Mbalula's appointment.

The former finance minister said that Mbalula had revealed to the NEC that he'd been told of his cabinet appointment by the Gupta family.

Mbalula said he was ready to appear before the inquiry where he would put his side of the story forward.
