JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) is briefing the media following the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Irene near Pretoria.

The party is expected to communicate its decision on veteran politician, Derek Hanekom.

Hanekom made headlines after it was revealed that he met with the EFF in 2017 to discuss Former President Jacob Zuma's removal.

ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule labelled Hanekom a charlatan who's working to divide the party.

Hanekom has downplayed the meetings, saying it was an informal discussion as MPs, on how to deal with a particularly difficult time in the country.
