WATCH: Flight to repatriate South Africans in Wuhan to take off

A flight will leave on Tuesday evening for the repatriation of South Afrcian in Wuhan, China.

JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa and Health Minister Zweli Mkhize briefed the media following the decision to send a chartered plane to Wuhan, China to evacuate South Africans living in that city.

A flight will leave OR Tambo International at 9pm on Tuesday with officials from the Department of Health and Military Health on board.

There will be a total of 15 officials on board the aircraft.

122 South African have chosen to be repatriated from Wuhan.

Government said that when the 122 South Africans have been repatriated and have shown no signs of the virus, they will be quarantined for 21 days upon their arrival in South Africa.

To date, seven people have tested positive for the coronavirus in South Africa.
