CAPE TOWN – Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe presented his department’s 2019/20 energy budget vote.
On Wednesday, Mantashe tabled the department’s mineral resources budget.
Mantashe said that mining production and linked manufacturing are being hard hit by high electricity prices.
Nersa approved electricity hikes for the next three years and mining companies warned that 90,000 jobs are in jeopardy because of this.
