DURBAN - Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize is visiting KwaZulu-Natal to check on COVID-19 facilities.
The province has recorded 87,798 COVID-19 cases, 51,187 recoveries and 1,038 deaths.
Mkhize is on a two-day visit to the province to inspect the state of readiness for the COVID-19 pandemic.
South Africa has the world's fifth-highest number of infections, with cases passing 500,000 over the weekend, despite a strict lockdown since late March.
The minister said on Wednesday that declining numbers of infections are a positive indication, but South Africans should not lose vigilance.
