WATCH: MPs mark 16 Days of Activism

In a year marred by gender-based violence, women from all walks of life have risen up to make their voices heard following the brutal death of Uyinene Mrwetyana.

CAPE TOWN - The National Assembly will mark 16 Days of Activism for no violence against women and children on Tuesday.

Recently, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced government had allocated R1.6-billion to its gender violence campaign.

The theme of Tuesday's debate is Enough is Enough - 365 days to end gender-based violence.

The country is currently marking 16 Days of Activism which will run until the international day for the elimination of violence against women on 10 December.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the negative impact that violence and abuse have on women and children and to rid society of abuse permanently.
