Load-shedding should not occur during festive season: Gordhan

JOHANNESBURG - Public Enterprises Minister, Pravin Gordhan says there should be no load-shedding during the festive season.

He said all senior Eskom managers have been asked to cancel their leave to attend to operational challenges.

Gordhan said they’ve been deployed to power stations to deal with the rolling power cuts.

“Our objective is that we don’t any more level 2 load-shedding as much as possible within the next week or two. Between December 15 to January 15, there's lower demand and no load-shedding should be expected and the management must give us assurance that they working towards that particular objective...” he said.

Gordhan added that President Cyril Ramaphosa will soon appoint a task team to help Eskom deal with its operational challenges.
