JOHANNESBURG - The ANC says its inability to pay staff salaries is not a reflection on its ability to lead.

Party employees announced that they will be striking on Thursday, as July and August's salaries remain outstanding.

Party spokesperson Pule Mabe confirmed that NEC members’ pay has also been affected, but maintains that it’s continuing its work to improve the lives of South Africans.

"We [NEC members] sit in the very same situation as those who are in our employ sit in. Sometimes we even go for a much longer period ourselves, it's just that we are understanding the situation of the organisation and are opting not to follow some of the actions that the employees could be following," he said.
