Mabuza: Men must solve gender-based crime

JOHANNESBUG - The deputy president says the problem of gender-based crime in South Africa can only be solved by men.

Deputy President David Mabuza was answering questions in the National Assembly on Wednesday.

He says most crimes against women and children are committed by men and it's a problem that's reached epidemic proportions.

Maduza, commenting on the latest national crime statistics, says men are the problem.

More than 50,000 sexual offences were reported last year.

While almost 4000 women and children were killed, mostly by men.
