JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Premier David Makhura has condemned utterances by Sports and Recreation MEC Faith Mazibuko that were captured in an audio recording.

Makhura said Mazibuko’s behaviour is unacceptable.

He has also dismissed suggestions that government is fast-tracking delivery of long-planned projects or implementing new plans for the purpose of winning elections.

Mazibuko has come under fire over an audio recording in which she harshly addresses the department.

In the recording, she's heard telling certain staff they are lucky to have their jobs as certain departments in the province won't employ white or Indian people.

Makhura says his administration will not tolerate racism and sexism.

The matter has been referred to the ANC Integrity Commission.
