JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng premier David Makhura says the province will be easing lockdown restrictions in June.

Speaking during a virtual legislature sitting on Tuesday, Makhura said Gauteng will move to Level 3 at the beginning of June.

He says the province has less than 15 percent of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, but the peak is still coming.

Makhura says all districts in the country's economic hub will move together since they are highly integrated.

The provincial government will be meeting with stakeholders on Wednesday to prepare for Level 3.
