Makhura: SIU identified officials at centre of alleged PPE corruption

JOHANNESBURG - The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has identified two officials in the Gauteng Department of Health, alleged to be at the centre of PPE tender corruption in the province.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura says one of the officials resigned and criminal charges will be pursued, while the other was suspended.

Makhura also says the SIU will conduct lifestyle audits for all MECs in the province, including himself as the Premier.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed several ministers to investigate the alleged looting of millions through dodgy PPE tenders.

Makhura was briefing the media on Friday.
