LIBODE, Eastern Cape - ANC National Chairperson Gwede Mantashe is on a two-day campaign trail in the Eastern Cape, a traditional ANC stronghold.

He's visited the OR Tambo region, where the ANC has become greatly divided.

Service delivery and demarcation of wards were the main issues that the community raised.

Mantashe has encouraged the regions to discuss succession plans.

He said by doing so, it will minimise the tensions within the ANC.

Mantashe's campaign concludes on Sunday in the Amathole region.
