File: Medical practitioners say this unfair treatment sets their practices up for failure and puts their patients at risk.
JOHANNESBURG - Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says thousands of medical graduates have been placed in public health facilities.
However, more than 600 of them are appealing their placements.
Motsoaledi says various committees are looking at the appeals.
"On 12 December, we issued a statement that we would place 1,883 doctors for internship, 1,465 doctors for community services and over 3,000 nurses and other health professionals," said Motsoaledi.
"668 might have not taken up their position because they lodged appeals.
"We also have members of the association of doctors who look at everyone's appeal and whether we are dealing with them very well."
