Modjadji Royal Council reaffirms its decision on heir

The Modjadji Royal Council in Limpopo is today briefing the media. This over the ascension controversy that's caused a rift in the Modjadji royal house and the Balobedu nation. The council recently announced that Prince Lekukela Modjadji is to take the throne.

JOHANNESBURG - The Modjadji Royal Council reaffirmed its decision to appoint Prince Lekukela Modjadji as heir to the throne.

He is due to take over next year.

This has caused a rift in the Modjadji royal house and the Balobedu nation.

Some believe the Royal Council should have appointed Prince Lekukela's sister Princess Masalanabo.

The new king is set to be crowned in October 2022. 

For the first time in 200 years, a king will reign in the queendom.
