Moyane files urgent application against Ramaphosa's decision

JOHANNESBURG - Axed Sars Commissioner Tom Moyane has filed an urgent application to review and set aside President Cyril Ramaphosa's decision to fire him.

The president fired Moyane two weeks ago following a recommendation from the Nugent commission of inquiry looking into the revenue authority.

Moyane responded by giving the President a deadline to withdraw the termination letter.

In turn the president stuck to his initial decision to remove Moyane.

The former Sars commissioner also wants to interdict Ramaphosa from taking any further action related to the commission's recommendations until his Constitutional Court application is finalised.

He’s approached the highest court in land to have the commission, led by retired judge Robert Nugent declared unlawful and its recommendations invalid.

The High Court will hear Moyane’s application on the 27th of this month.
