Farmers in Mpumalanga face eviction

A group of black farmers in Mpumalanga are at their wits end. They've been trying to fight eviction notices, after refusing to pay admin fees of R250,000 to renew their expired leases at state farms. JOHANNESBURG - A group of emerging black farmers in Mpumalanga are at their wit's end.

The group has been trying to fight eviction notices after refusing to pay admin fees of R250,000 to renew their expired leases at state-owned farms.

Legal Resources Centre's Wilmien Wilcomb says this practice by the Agriculture Ministry is not regular.

Wilcomb said the situation is threatening job creation and food security.
