Mpumalanga premier to visit KaNyamazane protest hotspot

JOHANNESBURG - Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtshweni will visit Kanyamazane following protests in the area.

Protesting residents have disrupted schooling for the past two days.

The Basic Education Department says eight primary and five secondary schools have been affected.

The department is particularly concerned about Grade 12 pupils who are preparing for examinations.

Preliminary exams are scheduled to start on 28 August.

Residents say the government has not helped them since hailstorms destroyed their homes in May.
