JOHANNESBURG - Former president Kgalema Motlanthe says the late minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu has always been upright in the fight against corruption and standing for the truth.
A memorial service is being held for Mthembu on Monday morning.
Motlanthe said the ANC is not a perfect party, but its members should always strive for what is right.
"The ANC's made up of its members and there's no point in looking the party for what it used to be or its glorious past.
"We ought to accept that it is what it is today. Members of the ANC, leaders must always remember that they do not only represent themselves, they are the embodiment of the organisation wherever they are," Motlanthe said.
"They must always be guided by their own conscious in understanding what the right thing is. They should strive to be in a position to do right and where you can say you have nothing to hide.
"Jackson Mthembu has always been upright."
