JOHANNESBURG - Mzwandile Masina has resigned as the ANC's Ekurhuleni Municipality councillor.

The ANC in Gauteng says Masina's resignation is voluntary.

Masina has been facing disciplinary action from his party after he defied the ANC and compromised the party's coalition talks with the EFF.

Masina has been the strongman in Ekurhuleni ANC politics for some years.
