VLAKFONTEIN - Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba is calling on the national and provincial government to take responsibility for the lack of service delivery in Alexandra.

Mashaba argues that the Democratic Alliance has governed the city for only two years.

The mayor says he wants President Cyril Ramaphosa and Gauteng Premier David Makhura to be part of his meeting with residents.

Mashaba further stated that he is ready to meet the people of Alexandra.

“The question of Alexandra is a national matter more than anything else,” Mashaba said.

“During Thabo Mbeki’s era with the Alexandra Renewal Project, over R2-billion... I need the province and national government to be with me to explain to the people of Alexandra to explain what happened to their money.”
