National Shutdown | Cosatu, Saftu hand over memoranda


JOHANNESBURG - Labour federations, with workers have handed over a memorandum of demands to the Minister in the Presidency, Mondli Gungubele. 

Streets around the country on Wednesday were draped in red as the Congress of South African Trade Unions and the South African Federation of Trade Unions embarked on a national shutdown.

The march was against the escalating cost of living, poor working conditions and high levels of unemployment, among other concerns. 



The march called for government action to prevent an economic meltdown.

In Durban, Cosatu members handed over their memorandum at the City Hall.

In Polokwane, a memorandum was handed to Limpopo Premier Stan Mathabatha.
