Nehawu has urged its members to stay away from work for their own safety.
JOHANNESBURG - The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) is urging its members to stay away from work on Friday.
The union is calling it the Siyahlala Day of Action.
On the organisation's Twitter page, they called their members to action.
It says this is part of its programme of action to defend members against contracting the coronavirus.
Nehawu says workers are suffering because of staff shortages and inadequate health and safety regulations.
The union represents around a hundred thousand workers in the health sector.
