JOHANNESBURG - Health workers' union Nehawu says it's disappointing that some health workers don't have adequate protective gear.
The union is expected to picket at the National Health Laboratory Service.
It's protesting shortages of staff and personal protective equipment and demanding pay increases.
It said the government is not taking the needs of healthcare workers seriously.
The union set out a timeline of protests, including picketing from 24 to 27 August and a total shutdown across sectors on 28 August.
Nehawu general-secretary Zola Saphetha said the union will not stop fighting until workers' needs are met.
It says it will withdraw its labour until there is a favourable response.
