Nehawu to go ahead with protest despite COVID-19 regulations

JOHANNESBURG - The National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union says it will go ahead with a protest on the 30th of March.

This despite President Cyril Ramaphosa's call to avoid convening large gatherings amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Nehawu wants to highlight government's intention to give public sector workers no increases starting in April.

"Members are already risking as we speak, there is no hospital that has less than 100 workers," said Nehawu’s Mike Shingane.

"In any case, those regulations are not adhered to as far as workers are concerned, workers not trained to deal with the outbreak."
