HLANGANANI - The saying "water is life" has never been more relevant than in the age of coronavirus.

Despite the government's promises to deliver water tankers to struggling communities, many haven't received aid.

In commemoration of Freedom Day, the Nelson Mandela Foundation's teamed up with several rights groups to sponsor boreholes in Limpopo villages.

For Hlanganani residents, it is a daily burden to carry water bottles and barrels of water to their homes.

From early morning, they wait in hope for a water truck that could take weeks.

The alternative is to buy water from those who have cars and are able to travel to other villages or towns.

People in Hlanganani say they appreciate any kind of help when it comes to their water problems but they hope they will not be forgotten once the country is done fighting the spread of coronavirus.
