JOHANNESBURG - Newly-elected Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor, Nqaba Bhanga is accusing former ANC councillor Andile Lungisa of being behind the drama that took place in the council on Friday night.
Bhanga says Lungisa's release from prison was always going to spell trouble.
Lungisa, However, has refuted Nqaba Bhanga's accusations.
The former ANC councillor hit back at Bhanga, calling him a DA puppet.
During the long and dramatic meeting on Friday, a group of men understood to be security officials, forced the speaker, Buyelwa Mafaya, out of the council chamber.
Opposition councillors say the men were trying to stop the election of the mayor.
The council says the matter is being dealt with by police.
