PRETORIA – Stevens Mokgalapa has been elected as the new mayor of Tshwane.

Mokgalapa replaces Solly Msimanga who resigned to focus on his role as the Democratic Alliance’s Gauteng premier candidate in the 2019 general elections.

Mokgalapa was elected unopposed as the Tshwane council voted for the capital city’s new mayor.

Meanwhile, Msimanga has been sworn in as a member of the Gauteng legislature.
