CAPE TOWN - Lieutenant General Yolisa Matakata is the new Western Cape Police Commissioner.
Police Minister, Bheki Cele made the announcement on Thursday.
Matakata takes over after Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula was transferred to KwaZulu-Natal in August. She joined the SAPS in 1985.
She served 15 years in the Crime intelligence in the Western Cape.
Matakata is also served at the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations for the Hawks.
Other appointments included Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane as Free State commissioner, Lieutenant
General Sello Kwena as North West commissioner and Lieutenant General Moeketsi Sempe as divisional commissioner for visible policing.
